Before you start thinking about SEO strategies you need to make sure that your website has a solid SEO foundation. This post will talk about the basics of SEO every website should have before they start thinking about other SEO Strategies.
- Know your keywords: The first thing you need to do is research possible keywords you want to be visible for on search engine result pages (SERP).
- You want to only have 1 keyword per website page/blog post
- You want to brain dump dozens of possible keywords to work with when you’re starting your keyword research.
- Know your online competitors: You want to know who else out there is trying to rank for the keywords you want to rank for. Then see how they’ve optimized their website for SEO.
- These are not the same as your known competitors.
- This includes magazines and directories.
- Write proper tags & titles: Create proper titles, descriptions, and tags for each of your website pages and blog posts. This is what Google uses to see what your website is about if your pages and posts have relevant information.
- Optimize your titles and description with your keywords but make them catchy so searchers want to click on it!
