5 Tips for Creating excitement around your Website Launch

Creating a website launch plan is the most exciting part of building a website for your business! However, you might not know exactly where to begin. Keep reading to find out how you can make a great impression on the right audience, with a simple, yet effective launch plan.

Picking the right launch date & time

Give yourself 7 to 14 days to carry out your website launch plan. For your launch, choose a day and time when you will have access to IT support, like a weekday morning. This is also a time when user engagement is typically high.

Make sure to consistently check up on the functionality of your website in the days leading up to your launch.

Know your purpose for launch

When you create your website launch plan, you’ll want to connect with potential clients right off the bat. For those pursuing more creative business endeavors like photography or event planning, your first impression is everything!

Make your message clear

You need to communicate why you’re launching a website and how a potential or existing client can benefit. For instance, if you’re a wedding planner or photographer, this might include new automated booking, virtual consultations, and anything else you might want to offer!

Choose your social channels

Social media is a crucial part of any great website launch plan. You’ll want to take advantage of your social platforms to create excitement and extend your reach for your website launch.

  • Facebook: share updates with existing followers on your business page—make sure your Instagram is integrated with your Facebook account to ensure you don’t have to double post to stories.
  • Instagram: an incredible visual tool—use static posts for content that you want to keep permanently on your page. Use your Instagram story for real-time updates, countdowns, sneak peeks, and other relevant content.
  • TikTok: use trending songs as the background music for your videos for a shot at going viral.

Create excitement around your launch

One of the most effective ways to get your audience excited is by providing something of value. With your existing database and social media in mind, you can implement the following:

  • Send out a newsletter:
    • Send a blast to your existing customer database to announce the launch date of your website.
    • Include links for users to connect on social media and mention any promos, competitions, etc.
    • Make sure to send another on the day of launch.
  • Instagram:
    • Create an announcement post for the beginning of your 7-14 day launch period and continue throughout with bite-size announcements of features that users can expect from the site.
    • Include captions that encourage action. For example: “Share this post on your story and tag 3 friends for a chance to win a free (photoshoot, consultation, etc.)”
  • Facebook:
    • Create a virtual Facebook event for your website launch and offer a coupon for anyone who attends.
    • Set up your Instagram posts to share through Facebook.
  • TikTok:
    • Check out the most recent trends in case you can apply any to your business and your website launch.
    • Use trending music in the background of all videos.

Consistency and follow-up

Even after your website is officially launched, it’s helpful to continue promotional efforts for a month or so. Make sure you give your audience a way to follow up with their visits, such as a new e-mail list and links to social media.
