I have heard a lot of photographers lately talk about how they’re thinking of getting into video as well so to not lose out on the clients that want both photo and video. It got me thinking as I have also been in a situation where a couple wanted photo and video and it’s not something that I offer. I work closely with a videographer and together we make a great photo & video team, but I personally will not offer video through my company.
I am a photographer! I love being a photographer. I cannot do two things at once like offer the quality of photography that my couples expect from me and shoot amazing video at the same time. (My hand is way to shakey for video!). So what would I have to do to offer video? Hire two additional people to do video, and manage them in a way I wouldn’t know where to start. Photo and video although they go hand in hand are not the same animal! Shooting, story telling and editing it completely different so telling others how to do what they do with having no experience is not something I want to get into.
So instead I offer to my brides a referral to a couple of videographers that I love working with. We jive as if we’re one team because we’ve worked together many times before. We manage our own part of the day the way we know it works best for our clients because that’s what we do best.
