Rainy celebration. A Westwood Plateau Wedding

Rain rain go away!

It seems like a common theme from the Westwood Plateau weddings this summer is the intense every changing weather.

Jenn & Stu’s wedding was no different. What I love about weddings at Westwood Plateau in Coquitlam is that rain or shine there is a place to hold your ceremony. What was supposed to start off as an outdoor ceremony, ended up inside in their beautiful cedar ceremony room. The rain was coming down in buckets all morning long, and through the ceremony. Just then we noticed that there was a break in the clouds, the rain went away and we were able to get outside for some bridal portraits. It ended up lasting for about an hour, just long enough for us to take all of the photos we needed. The second we stepped inside it started pouring again! I couldn’t believe the luck we had that day.

Jennifer & Stu created a beautiful west coast theme; floating candles on the tables and fireplace behind the head table, wood signs and table numbers. Wanting to bridge the gap between summer and fall with different shades of purple and grey/silver. They decided on this theme because it fit so well with Westwood Plateau’s exposed wood.

How did you two meet?

I was working with Stu’s girlfriend at the time for the summer and we went on a few double dates, then lost touch for a few years and reconnected on Facebook. Our first date was a Canucks game where he kissed me before he even said hello when he picked me up.

Tell me about the proposal!

We were heading to Australia the next day. We had spent our last day in town running errands and getting everything ready. When we were finally done late that night I was cuddling with one of our dogs on the bed and Stu came in.  He told me how much he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. Then he pulled the ring out. I don’t remember much after that. Except a lot of shock and crying (ugly crying). I do remember asking him repeatedly if he was serious.

Tell me about your outfit.

Jennifer wore a beautiful wedding gown (with pockets!) from David’s Bridal dress, very classic, satin, ivory with a blingy belt. All the rings are Vera Wang. Sparkly head band from Davie & Chiyo. Sparkly sandals from Davids Bridal.

Stu wore a grey suit from Black and Lee, with an ivory shirt, black vest and black tie; the groomsmen will had the same suit but with a dark purple vest and ties
